A hearty turnout gathered at sunset to celebrate community at our library on Friday 18th February. With the themes of love and spring to acknowledge the increasing light and growth at this time of year we all demonstrated good intent to throw off the winter's caution!
Magnolia Rose led us into spring with Salsa dancing, Rebecca Gediking spun stories of Love, Gemma gave us the low down on low maintenance gardening and produced some amazing foraged crafts. Jo Homan made seed planters from old newspapers and shared foraged food receipes, the cleavers lemonade was a detox cocktail delight! Rachel Fell demonstrated the possibilities of Mosaic making with 'found objects' - such as those found in the garden at the back of the library! Nicola led a workshop producing luxurious bath bombs, lip balm and massage bars. The fennel massage bar had us all sniffing with pleasure! We were splendidly entertained by Andie, Dan, Deborah, Mark and Madeline with *Paul Federici the 'Singing Barber'* as a great grand finale. The vegan food was delicious with soup from Food Cycle and Curry and then desserts from our community, all served by Kit, Gordon, Siobhan and Caroline.
It strongly illustrated the power of community collaboration initiated by the 'Knowing thru Growing' group at the library with input from the librarians, the 'Friends of Stroud Green library', our SG Residents Association and members of local Transition Initatives and neighbours contributions.
The full moon was out and candlelit trips made to the garden and roof terrace. It was a beautiful evening that reflected community connection as some of you have already forwarded to us at 'Knowing thru Growing' ..
