Green Lights North London
Free environmental support is available to small to medium sized Haringey businesses. The Green Light North London project offers participants 12 hours support to help them reduce energy, waste and water costs and improve their environmental performance. Several Haringey businesses have already had environmental audits which have enabled them to make substantial savings, e.g.: a local dentist replaced their halogen lighting with LEDs saving over £1,000 per annum on energy and replacement bulb costs; a restaurant is saving 8,800 litres of water since installing water saving devices in their toilets. They have also installed a new air conditioning systems and implemented switch off procedures which helped to reduce their energy costs by 30%. Many of the these actions cost nothing and others paid for themselves very quickly through reduced bills. The aim is to sign up four new businesses each week. Your support would be particularly valuable to sign up new businesses as past experience has shown that face-to-face contact is much more successful than a letter or email when engaging with businesses.
